Okay, so promises are in the air. Everybody’s asking what everybody else’s resolution is, like they ask if it’s cold enough for ya. I tried to sum mine up as a vow to be more vital, more thirsty for life, more alive in the moment. Aside from how vague and potentially flaky that may sound, it also isn’t the how-to-for-dummies version I need it to be in the post holiday season, so I’ll break it down as best as I can, greeting the new year with simplicity. Admittedly I usually see this part of the year as the hibernation before the beginning that is spring, but we’ll go with convention on this one.
I vow to treat my own body as I treat Mother Earth; and I will treat Mother Earth as well as my own mother deserves.
I promise that when I choose to be decadent I will choose to do so with joy instead of guilt.
I swear to take a harder line on moderation.
I will be more grateful for my small steps.
I will only allow myself as much time for worrying as I do for rejoicing.
Reacting in anger leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I promise to think about that before reacting.
Quiet contemplation is an important task and deserves equal billing on my day’s To Do list. More unabashed time for that then!
I resolve with utmost conviction to put in more work, bust down more doors, and never give up the hope of seeing my work in print. You only deserve the fate you are willing to work for.
And I promise to update my blog more too. =)
May your year be bursting with flavour, and may that flavour be sweet.
