Freeze Frame

We were here
Before it was frozen.
We were something different then,
Walking this ground under that sky,
One double instead of two separates;
But it's colder now
These days,
In so many ways.
It looks different under ice:
The pigeons more hungry,
The statue more lonely.
Our words hang frosty in the air
As we walk far apart
And then closer again
Like well worn tracks
With slow progress through winter.

Good point, kind Pure. I feel the spring in the air now, and the building momentum of the season. I'm looking forward to reaping the rewards of the seeds I have planted over the course of this fading winter. Let the frenzy begin.
